Plasma cutting creates a cost-effective way to cut thicker metals, and develop them into final components for usable parts and structures.
The chassis we fabricate are typically used to house electromechanical controls, from small handheld devices to large industrial testing equipment. All chassis are built to critical dimensions to ensure hole pattern alignment between different parts.
TMT builds custom brackets and miscellaneous laser cutting components. Our capabilities allow for fasteners and additional conveniences to be built-in to almost any manufactured part.
MIG v.s. TIG Welding
What is MIG Welding?
Great for producing high strength finished products, MIG welding (Metal Inert Gas) is suitable for a wide variety of metals and thicknesses. Also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), it is powered by a continuous computer-controlled wire feed that forms an electronic arc between the wire electrode and the metal workpiece. This makes for faster, high volume production.
Often one of the most common forms of welding, MIG welding is great for thicker metals. It’s preferred when working with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. With such a quick and easy process it is a high productivity, low-cost option to produce products.
What is TIG Welding?
The ideal choice when it comes to welding thinner metals, TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) is known for the superior results it produces. It is always operated by an experienced technician because of its precision and complex control. This makes it commonly used when appearance and weld function are crucial to the finished product.
TIG welds us a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld, making them cleaner than other welding techniques because they don’t produce any sparks or splatter. It is the common choice for thinner pieces of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper.
An as-milled option is viable for quick turnaround and parts that do not require visual appeal. Leaving the parts with an unfinished surface with visible marks from machine and potentially rough or sharp edges.
Also called “Bead Blasting,” this finish creates a smooth matte appearance on metals.
Parts and applications may have an anodized finish for a wide variety of custom colors, which may include clear, black, gold, or desired custom colors.
Powder coating is a painting process where powdered paint is sprayed on a part or application prior to heating. The result is a strong layer that is more resistant to wear and corrosion.
This process also allows for a wide selection of colors for the further customization of color.
Also known as Chem Film or Chemical Conversion Coating, this metal coating provides corrosion resistance and conductive properties. This coat may also be used as a base for painted or color finishes.
If a custom finish is required for an order, or the finish is not listed on our site, please include this information when requesting a quote. We can likely still complete the project.
